Sugar Glue/ Gum Glue recipe

So in cake decorating, you often need to "glue or stick" things in place.  In order to do this, you need to ensure an edible medium is used.  You can use melted chocolate, but my fave. method is to just use Gum Glue or Sugar Glue (same thing).

MY recipe for it is:

150 ml warm boiled water
1/4 teaspoon CMC powder

Mix together and let it stand covered for a few hours.  You WILL get horrible chunky lumps when you first start mixing and you won't get rid of them by just mixing immediately.  It basically needs to stand and absorb the water - similar to gelatine.  

Then you can come back and mix it into a smooth consistency.  After that it is up to you as to whether you prefer your glue more or less liquid.  I prefer different consistencies for different techniques. So feel free to add more or less water as required.
